जीवन सूत्र (Jeevan Sutra)

क्षिप्रं विजानाति चिरं श्रुणोति विज्ञाय चार्थं भजते न कामात् ।
नासम्प्रष्टो ह्याप्युङ्कते परार्थे तत्प्रज्ञानं प्रथमं पण्डितस्या ।। { महाभारत (उद्योग पर्व) ~ ३३-३२ }

जो शीघ्र ही कही गई बात के तात्पर्य को समझ लेता है, परन्तु फिर भी उसे देर तक ध्यान से सुनता है, और अभिप्राय को समझने के पश्चात, स्वेच्छानुसार उसका अर्थ नहीं करता है, तथा जो बिना पूछे दूसरे की बात में टांग नहीं अड़ाता है । इस प्रकार का आचरण एक बुद्धिमान मनुष्य की पहली पहचान है ।

One who comprehends the essence of what is being said, and still continues to listen attentively for a long time. And even after understanding the complete meaning, does not freely makes its sense according to his own view. or thoughts. Such characteristics is the prime identity of a wise learned man. { Mahabharat (Udyog Parv) ~ 33-32 }

तर्कोऽप्रतिष्ठः श्रुतयो विभिन्ना, नैको ऋषिर्यस्य मतं प्रमाणम् ।
धर्मस्य तत्त्वं निहितं गुहायां, महाजनो येन गतः स पन्थाः ।। { महाभारत-वनपर्व ~ ३१३-११७ }

तर्क अप्रतिष्ठित है, श्रुतियां परस्पर भिन्न अर्थ वाली हैं, किसी एक ऋषि का अर्थ भी प्रमाणिक नहीं माना जा सकता है । वास्तव में धर्म का तत्त्व अत्यन्त रहस्यमय और गुप्त है । इसलिये महापुरुष जिस मार्ग पर चले आये हैं, वही धर्म का मार्ग समझना चाहीये ।

Logic is devoid of conclusions and not foolproof, the scriptures have many derivative meanings, there is no one wise person whose philosophy can be termed as authentic or complete. In reality, the essence of Dharma is mysterious and hidden. Therefore only this can be said that the path on which great realized souls have traversed, is the path of Dharma. { Mahabharat-Vanparva ~ 313-117 }
